Arkansas Library Paraprofessionals Conference in Hot Springs, Arkansas

On Tuesday, May 14, 2013, I participated in the Arkansas Library Paraprofessionals Conference in Hot Springs, Arkansas.  I presented “From a Patron’s Perspective:  Libraries and Librarians We Need You.”

This presentation focuses on the values that Arkansas libraries and librarians bring to the community.  It included commentary on the various library locations across Arkansas and included images of their respective memorials.

I also announced the details surrounding the Wabbaseka Memorial Design Contest.

Wabbaseka Memorial Design Contest provides an opportunity for students to become involved in the community by contributing original design ideas for the Wabbaseka Memorial honoring Wabbaseka native Willie K. Hocker, the designer of the Arkansas State Flag.

Students must submit their original designs to jirby@aristotle.net by the deadline of July 31, 2013.  The winner will receive a plaque presented at the Wabbaseka Memorial groundbreaking in October.
